Netilla Networks and Wyse Technology Team to Deliver Customized Winterm Thin-Client Product

Wyse Technology, the worldwide leader in secure, managed thin clients, announced today the companies have teamed to deliver a custom-built, Netilla-compliant Wyse Winterm™ thin client. Wyse and Netilla will leverage the strengths of their combined sales channels to deliver Netilla-ready Winterm thin clients in conjunction with the Netilla Service Platform. The combined solution provides a highly secure, cost-effective solution for supporting the remote access needs of enterprises.

When managing remote locations, chief information officers (CIOs) and information technology (IT) professionals must take into consideration many issues. How many people will it take to support the remote offices? How often will we have to visit the offices to fix or maintain IT equipment? Will we be able to deliver enough security? The Wyse-Netilla solution helps CIOs reduce the security risk of managing distributed offices and eliminates the need to add numerous IT professionals out in the field to support remote locations. Customers also receive the benefit of creating a foundation for future office expansion.

The Netilla-ready Winterm thin client provides a high level of functionality for both Wyse and Netilla resellers and customers. The offering combines the low total cost of ownership (TCO), low IT complexity and high security of Wyse Winterm thin clients with Netilla's secure, quick-to-deploy, simple-to-manage remote access platform. The new product is ideal for companies that need to connect multiple locations or branch offices, but do not have significant IT resources staffed locally. The Netilla-ready Winterm thin client is particularly well suited for the health care, financial services, education and government markets where both companies have traditionally excelled.

"This mutually beneficial agreement bolsters our product offering to meet the demands of our thin-client customers," said Reggie Best, Netilla Networks' president and chief executive officer. "By teaming with Wyse Technology, we can leverage the affordable, high-performance synergy of our respective products, and deliver a leading technology that clearly matches our customers' requirements for secure, cost-effective remote access to centralized applications and data."

Netilla service platforms are secure remote networking appliances based on Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption and other Web technologies that enable browser-based access to legacy Windows, Unix/Linux, mainframe as well as native Web applications in the data center. Netilla service platforms are practical, quick-to-deploy and simple-to-manage solutions that lower the TCO of secure remote access implementations.

"Wyse Winterm thin clients are ideally suited for Netilla's remote access platforms, and meet the growing demand for secure, easy to manage solutions," said David Rand, director of corporate marketing for Wyse Technology. "By teaming with Netilla we can provide our resellers and customers with a powerful remote access solution that that maximizes cost efficiency, ease-of-use and security."

More and more businesses are using Wyse Winterm thin clients at remote offices. Wyse's thin clients are desktop alternatives to the personal computer. The devices cost less to purchase and support than personal computers, have better security and enable centralized, remote management. The devices display applications that reside on a server at a centralized company office and are accessed over a Wide Area Network (WAN). Wyse's thin clients can be pre-configured from a central IT location and then installed in the field by merely plugging them in and turning them on. Should the devices ever require an upgrade to the existing software on the device, Wyse's Rapport Management Software enables updates to quickly be "pushed" over the Expand accelerated WAN and installed without an IT worker having to ever touch the device.
