of Offices; Drives Down Deployment Costs, Cuts Network Expenses

San Jose, CA –
02/04/2003 -
Wyse Technology, the domain experts in server-centric computing, today announced that Corporation Service Company (CSC) has deployed hundreds of Wyse Winterm™ thin clients in their offices throughout the U.S., managed for maximum return on investment by Wyse Rapport™ client management software. Corporation Service Company is an industry leader in providing innovative law office and registered agent services for corporations and attorneys nationwide. With the Wyse server-centric solution, CSC secures and protects vital information stored on corporate servers located in its Wilmington, Del. headquarters and drives down its desktop deployment and IT management costs, cutting wide-area network expenses by more than 25 percent. Now CSC's regional employees can focus on their primary responsibility - to provide their corporate and legal clients with the security and superior service that has been a CSC hallmark for over 100 years.
"CSC clients expect our consistent, high-quality service no matter which of our regional offices they use," said Jon Bergman, chief technology officer. "We depend on Wyse's combined solution to provide our regional agents with instant, reliable access to the legal and financial information from our national headquarters. Wyse thin clients and Wyse Rapport eliminate the need to store and maintain applications from a server at each regional office. Vital data and our mission critical applications can now be centrally located at our national headquarters, which significantly reduces our management and network costs, simplifies security and backup, and eliminates synchronization problems with regional servers."
The Winterm 3235LE simplifies desktop and IT management and delivers superior flexibility, productivity, security and longevity in server-based computing environments. The Winterm 3235LE is based on the Microsoft Windows CE operating system and uses Microsoft RDP and Citrix ICA remote display protocols in conjunction with Microsoft Terminal Servers and Citrix MetaFrame to deliver a PC-like desktop experience with enhanced security, manageability, affordability and reliability. The Winterm 3235LE has a tiny footprint that is ideal for offices with limited space. It mounts easily on a wall or the back of a monitor and delivers enhanced performance with faster bus speed than comparable Windows CE-based thin clients. The Wyse Winterm 3235LE ships with embedded support for Wyse Rapport management software, which lets administrators manage Wyse thin clients from a remote location.
"Wyse thin clients and management software are a perfect fit for dispersed organizations that must provide regional employees with seamless, reliable access to corporate resources, yet cannot afford to spend their IT budget on local desktop support and maintenance costs," said David Rand, director of corporate marketing for Wyse Technology. "CSC is a great example of how to use Wyse products to provide effective mission-critical access to each employee. CSC IT administrators manage all applications and data at corporate headquarters, therefore they ensure business continuity and security, and actually reduce their IT management costs."
CSC conducts four critical desktop management functions from a single, central location with Wyse management software: software distribution, device diagnostics, device configuration and asset management. IT administrators can remotely replace all of the software on a Wyse thin client, or update specific applications. With this powerful management tool, CSC tracks the service history of each device, and administrators remotely diagnose problems that users might have. CSC uses client management to adjust settings for a device by using the management software's hands-free device configuration. Finally, CSC depends on the management software to track asset information on their network, which includes the number, types and location of devices and more specific information, such as the usage patterns, network configurations and error reporting records for each device.
